The easiest way to reach Arctic Lumo Resort is by flying to Kuusamo Airport. The resort is located just 9 minutes from the airport, and airport transfers are included in many packages. During winter, Kuusamo receives direct flights from Helsinki and selected European cities.

Accommodation
Lumo Resort offers two accommodation categories designed for comfort, privacy and unforgettable Arctic views. Aurora Spa Rooms feature panoramic glass roofs and private outdoor jacuzzis, while spacious Panoramic Suites offer two bedrooms and bathrooms, a large living area and premium amenities for couples, families and small groups.
All stays at Arctic Lumo Resort are sold as holiday packages that combine luxury accommodation with carefully selected services and experiences. Depending on the package, your stay may include airport transfers, full board dining, winter clothing, Arctic activities and access to resort facilities.
Yes. Many accommodations at Arctic Lumo Resort are specifically designed for Northern Lights viewing. The rooms face the northern sky and feature large glass surfaces that allow guests to enjoy the Arctic landscape and, when conditions are favourable, the Aurora Borealis directly from their accommodation.

Aurora Spa Rooms are designed primarily for couples and small families seeking a cosy Northern Lights experience with a private jacuzzi and glass roof. Aurora Rooms are the same, without the jacuzzi. Panoramic Suites offer significantly more space, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living area and enhanced privacy, making them ideal for families and guests seeking a more exclusive stay.
Yes. Bed linen, towels and essential room amenities are included in every stay at Arctic Lumo Resort.

Winter offers a wide range of Arctic experiences, including husky safaris, snowmobile adventures, reindeer experiences, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and Northern Lights excursions. Guests can also enjoy complimentary activities such as sledding, feeding reindeer and exploring the surrounding winter landscape.
Many of our holiday packages include a selection of Arctic experiences. Depending on the package, activities may include reindeer experiences, snowmobile adventures, guided excursions and other seasonal highlights. Additional activities can also be booked separately.
We highly recommend booking activities in advance, especially during the peak winter season. This ensures availability and allows us to create the best possible itinerary for your stay.
Yes. Winter clothing including thermal overalls, winter boots, gloves and hats is included for all guests throughout their stay, allowing you to comfortably enjoy outdoor activities in Arctic conditions.
Many activities are suitable for families and children. Reindeer experiences, sledding, snowshoeing and selected safaris can be enjoyed by guests of different ages. Specific age requirements may apply to certain activities.
No previous experience is required. Professional guides provide safety instructions and operating guidance before every safari, making snowmobiling accessible for both beginners and experienced riders.

When booking the Ruka Coaster experience through us, transportation is included. The journey from Arctic Lumo Resort to Ruka takes approximately 15–20 minutes, making it an easy and enjoyable excursion during your stay.
Yes. Both Riisitunturi National Park and Oulanka National Park are located within easy reach of Lumo Resort and are among the most popular natural attractions in the Kuusamo region. Guests can comfortably visit either park during their stay, and it is even possible to explore both destinations on the same day.

Yes. Depending on the season and availability, guests may have the opportunity to enjoy bear meat as part of a special dining experience. Bear meat is one of Finland's rarest culinary specialities and is available only in limited quantities each year. Due to restricted availability, bear meat dishes must be reserved well in advance and cannot always be guaranteed on short notice.

Northern Lights
The Northern Lights season in Finnish Lapland typically runs from late August until early April. During this period, dark skies and clear weather create excellent opportunities to witness one of nature's most spectacular phenomena.
September, October, February and March are often considered the best months for Northern Lights viewing. These months combine long periods of darkness with favourable weather conditions and comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities.
Yes. Lumo Resort is located on a private hilltop with panoramic views towards the northern sky and very low levels of light pollution. Guests often have the opportunity to observe the Northern Lights directly from the resort and, depending on room category and conditions, even from their accommodation.
While Northern Lights can never be guaranteed, guests staying several nights during the Aurora season generally have a very good chance of witnessing them if weather conditions are favourable. Longer stays naturally increase the likelihood of a sighting.
