Lumo Resort is a high-end arctic resort in Ruka-Kuusamo, Lapland, Finland. We have 23 glass-roofed rooms and suites, activities on our own forest and lake grounds, and our own restaurant. The restaurant is built around wild, local ingredients: game, forest berries and other flavours of the northern wilderness. Culinary direction is by chef Kim Mikkola, a former sous chef at Noma and the founder of a Michelin-starred restaurant Inari.

We opened in 2025, so this is our second winter. We’re still young, so you’ll help shape both the story of our resort and your own role in it.

We’re looking for guides to take our guests out into the Lapland winter. Groups are small, and many trips are private for one family or couple. For many guests, it’s their first time in real arctic conditions, so you’ll be the one who makes them feel safe, warm and curious.

We’re hiring for two kinds of roles: outdoor activity guides, and an ice fishing guide. If you can do both, even better.

Your responsibilities as an outdoor activity guide:
  • Guide snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, fatbiking, Nordic walking and sledding on our own grounds
  • Lead evening aurora tours by car or on foot
  • Take guests on trips to Ruka, national parks (Oulanka, Riisitunturi) and Santa’s Cottage
  • Look after the equipment and keep it ready for the next group
Your responsibilities as an ice fishing guide:
  • Lead ice fishing trips on the lake: equipment, drilling, fishing
  • Check ice conditions and keep the group safe
  • Share fishing knowledge and stories of the area with guests
Must have:
  • Experience guiding outdoors, or strong ice fishing expertise
  • Fluent spoken English
  • Excellent customer service skills, a calm attitude and a love of sharing the outdoors with guests of all ages
  • The right to work in Finland
  • First aid skills, or willingness to get certified (we'll organise the certification if needed)
  • For activity guides: a driving licence (class B) and confidence driving on winter roads
Nice to have:
  • Photography skills, especially aurora and night photography (please mention if you have experience photographing aurora)
  • Snowmobile experience
  • Finnish, German, Arabic, French, Spanish or other language skills

It’s a big plus if you can also help with other work, such as driving airport transfers. It isn’t required, but in a small team, flexibility is always welcome.

What we offer:
  • For activity guides: a full-time or part-time, fixed-term seasonal contract from November 2026 to March 2027, with daytime and evening shifts
  • For ice fishing: a part-time, hourly contract from when the ice is safe, usually late December or January, until March 2027
  • Salary based on your experience
  • Staff housing if needed
  • A small, warm team where everyone helps each other out

How to apply: send us an email at office@lumoresort.com and attach a short intro about yourself and your CV or up-to-date LinkedIn profile. Tell us whether you’re interested in the Outdoor Activity Guide role, the Ice Fishing Guide role, or both. Read how we handle applicants’ data: https://www.lumoresort.com/privacy

We review applications as they arrive and will hire as soon as we find the right person, so apply early.
