At Lumo Resort, responsible tourism means practical actions that protect the surrounding Arctic nature, support the local community and help our guests experience Finnish Lapland in a more sustainable way. Our resort uses geothermal heating and carbon-free electricity, and we continue to monitor how energy and resources are used across accommodation, dining and guest services. Many of our experiences start directly from the resort area, which helps reduce unnecessary transfers during the stay. We also provide winter clothing and outdoor equipment for guests, making it easier to enjoy nature-based activities without additional purchases. We work closely with local entrepreneurs, guides and suppliers in the Ruka-Kuusamo region. Local cooperation is an important part of our restaurant, activities and guest experience, and it helps keep the benefits of tourism within the local community. Our responsibility work is ongoing. We are developing clearer waste sorting, increasing the use of local ingredients, improving our sustainability communication and continuing our work towards recognised sustainability certifications. Our goal is to build a resort where high-quality travel, local culture and respect for Arctic nature belong together.
